Hi There,
I started my interest in magic when I was eight years old. It all started when I saw my first magician in my hometown. I walked into a magic store which was a couple of blocks from my house. When I walked in for the first time, it felt like I was in a different world. There were exotic looking props and photos all over the walls and in the display cases. There was also magician behind the counter doing amazing things. I remember seeing him toss a ball of fire back a forth between his hands. It was incredible!
Then there was the moment that changed my life. The magician asked me if I wanted to see a trick. I of course said, "Yes!". He took a little red ball and made it vanish and appear inside of my closed fist! My jaw hit the ground and I have been hooked ever since.
I performed my first paid magic show at a fifth birthday party for a boy named Leo. I remember I took a taxi to downtown Portland with my friend. I set up for the show, and performed for my first real audience. It was naturally not a great show, but it was enough to give me that adrenaline rush that only showbiz can give you. I was paid a whopping..$20. After the gig, I didn't make it far before entering a comic book store and spent the money on what else, comics and candy! I should have kept it and hung it on the wall!
For the next 5 years, I mowed lawns, shoveled snow from driveways, sold lemonade, and performed magic shows, earning money to fuel my never-ending quest for magic knowledge. Hard work really does pay off!
I then spent all of my high school years honing my craft. I spent most of my time creating original magic, writing comedy bits, and re-inventing old performance ideas.
After I graduated from High School in 2002 I moved out to San Francisco, California! I started my own magic entertainment business and performed at parties, fairs, weddings, and pretty much everywhere I could find work.
6 years later and performing nearly 1,500 shows in Northern California, I moved back to Maine with my wife and 5 pets (2 dogs, 2 cats, and a horse).
I now travel the country performing my own 65-minute stage show called, "The Norman Magic Experience," at college campuses and performing arts centers all over the country. I combine my original brand of magic, with funny comedy situations, and tons of audience participation. I like to think of it as "Magic That's Far From the NORM!" haha...I get a kick out of saying that...but its true, you wont see a show like it anywhere else!
Thanks for your interest in my bio, now go check out the rest of this site!
